Mazda Zimbabwe – Willowvale Motor Industries (Private) Limited (WMI), is a Mazda Distributor for the territory of Zimbabwe. The company has been directly involved in the Mazda business in Zimbabwe for more than fifty (50) years and of which at least thirty (30) years have been as its primary volume brand. The company works through a network of independent authorised dealers to provide a delightful experience at retail throughout the ownership period and beyond for Mazda customers. Since 2014 the Mazda Zimbabwe sells Completely-Built-Up (CBU) Mazda vehicles. The company operates a vehicle assembly plant for Semi-Knocked -Down kits mainly for pick-ups as the other part of its business. Mazda is considered the “national vehicle brand” in Zimbabwe after it achieved outstanding market success of up to 40% market share when the brand was locally assembled.
Mazda Zimbabwe Corporate Status
WMI is a State Owned Commercial Enterprise (SOCE) whose mandate is to lead the local production of vehicular products including automotive vehicles, trucks and buses and agricultural equipment. Local production and supply of vehicles and equipment to the domestic and export markets is in furtherance of the Government of Zimbabwe policy on industrialisation and local content value chains development anchored on import substitution strategy for the economy. WMI is a company duly registered in terms of laws of Zimbabwe, registration #167/1960. The company is part of the Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe (IDC), a body corporate constituted in terms of the IDC Act (Chapter 14:10). The IDC’s mandate is to promote the establishment or development of new or existing industrial undertakings, to facilitate, promote and assist in financing of new industries and formed in accordance with Companies Act and laws of Zimbabwe.
